Knocked Up Celebs

Suri Cruise has been in the media spotlight from the day she was born.  No small wonder that, with Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise for parents.    There’s just so much speculation about her little five year old life, and Tom and Katie kind of hand it to us on a silver platter.  The lipstick, the high heels, the iPad.

Just another spoiled celebrity kid?  Life & Style Weekly says it’s gone way beyond that.  The cover story for their October 3, 2011 issue claims to have the inside scoop on what’s really going on in the Holmes-Cruise household, and just how bad it is for little Suri.

A former employee places the blame on the family’s religious beliefs:

“Because Suri is being raised a Scientologist, both Katie and Tom have to treat her like an adult. There’s no coddling, and they never tell her anything — they ask. So when she wants to wear her Cinderella costume to bed, she gets to. When she demands a manicure at 9 p.m., she gets it.  And that includes treats for breakfast!”

And while you might have been thinking all this time that the lipstick and heels were the result of parents giving in to the whimsy of a little girl, the magazine’s sources claim that Suri is actually being encouraged to wear them.   Because her parents are supposed to treat her like an adult?  That’s not clear.

I don’t know that I can condemn them for all this stuff.  Do I believe that their life is probably really, really weird?  You bet.  Do I think Suri is probably crazy spoiled.  Yup.  And yes, they have been spotted keeping their daughter out pretty late at night.   And the lipstick is just wrong, wrong wrong, at her age.  But I challenge you to show me a little girl out there who hasn’t begged to wear her Princess dress to bed, or demand that she wear her fancy shoes out to the supermarket.   Been there, done that.  Mostly these things cause no harm.   The only difference is that no one is following you and me around constantly, taking pictures of  our “Oh, what the hell” parenting moments.

A determined-looking Suri Cruise left her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday with her parents, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.   She carried a princess umbrella -ella-ella-ella against the rain.  Mom has done well teaching her daughter to keep her head down in front of the paparazzi, but I’m just glad Miss Suri has finally learned to walk on her own!

Katie Holmes and daughter, Suri, dressed in furry gingerbread pajamas, were spotted on the set of Katie’s new movie, Jack and Jill. Doesn’t the Grove look so good at this time of year? I have to admit that I love going shopping because of all the Christmas decorations.

Katie was up early this morning to help present the 2010 Golden Globe nominations with Josh Duhamel. That has to be a fun job!

Suri Cruise looks like a pro as she hangs out on the movie set with her mom, Katie Holmes. Katie is filming, Jack and Jill, in Los Angeles.  Dad, Tom Cruise, is busy filming, Mission Impossible 3, in Prague, so mom is taking care of Suri on her own. It looks like  Suri knows what she is doing though.

The film tells the story of Jack who is forced to deal with his twin sister, Jill, when she visits for Thanksgiving, but then won’t leave. Both Jack and Jill are being played by Adam Sandler and Katie plays Jack’s wife. It’s set for release in 2011.

Katie Holmes was spotted at the same luncheon as Amy Adams was at yesterday. It was the 2nd annual Variety Power of Women Luncheon in Beverly Hills, California. At the event, Katie beamed that daughter, Suri, was really into ballet right now.

“She loves ballet. She’s great at it.”

I bet Suri just looks adorable in a tutu!

Tom Cruise and wife, Katie Holmes, have been spending the week in Prague scouting out locations for the next Mission Impossible movie. Suri was spotted getting on a private jet in Prague. It’s not known if she was on there with her mom or if her nanny was with her. But for a girl that age it must be weird to be a part of that. I am loving her boots! I want a pair of them for me.

Dianna Agron, who stars with Katie Holmes in her upcoming film, The Romantics, has said that she would love it if  Katie and daughter, Suri, would appear on an episode of Glee.

Dianna said that they were so much fun to be around on the set of The Romantics:

“We had so much fun together on and off set. She has said to me that she and Suri watch the musical numbers and they love it. It would be awesome to get them on the show. That would be amazing.”

I think it would be cute if Suri ended up on Glee!

Katie Holmes and husband, Tom Cruise, were spotted leaving their apartment yesterday headed for the premiere of Katie’s movie, The Romantics, in New York. Which also stars Josh Duhamel. I bet she was happy to have her husband there as her date!

In the latest issue of Marie Claire Katie reveals that she is raising daughter, Suri, to have responsibilities.

‘We travel a lot, and so for me, it’s keeping a daily schedule for Suri that never changes. We wake up, and we do the same thing. She does her chores. I think it’s very important.’

Having a routine is always good. And if they can teach that to her at such a young age they are ahead of the game.

Katie Holmes is looking amazing on the Fall Fashion Issue of New York Magazine. I love that her long hair is back! In the magazine she talks fashion, husband Tom Cruise and daughter Suri. Here are the highlights:

On her new fashion line: “I started making clothes for Suri when she was born, designing dresses, and then having seamstresses sew them, because I don’t sew very well. As a child, I was always drawing clothes, and I’ve always loved fabrics, and when Suri was born, I wanted to have certain things be from me and created just by me for her. And so that kind of got me into it, and then one day, Jeanne and I were getting ready for something and we thought, men have such beautiful tailored shirts, they have such a uniform, and we thought it would be nice to make things that are simple that you can have forever.”

On Suri’s sense of fashion: “I grew up the youngest of five, so there were a lot of hand-me-downs that I would sort of change up. And Suri and I do that now with her clothes. Or rather, she does it. She says, “I want this sleeve cut,” and it’s like, “Okay, we’ll cut it.” She picks out all of her own clothes and has since she was 1½. Tom and I went to the Met ball a couple of years ago, and I had this beautiful red gown and these royal-blue shoes that I wasn’t planning on wearing, but Suri made me put them on and so I was like, “Okay, I trust you.”

On if she reads what the media says about Tom and her marriage: “It’s there, it’s one of those things. My big concern is what does he have going, what do I have going, what are we going to do this weekend. It must seem weird, I guess, having so many people watching. It is weird. I get it. But you just, you know, smile and nod.”

Recently co-star Malin, said that Katie’s daughter, Suri, was so great on set.

‘You just want to eat her! You want to eat that little kid so badly. And she’s a smart, smart girl. She’s so smart and well socialised because she’s always on set.’

I can’t wait to see these ads finished!
