Octuplet Mom Launches Site And Is Taking Donations

February 11th, 2009 Taylor Blue Posted in General News, Multiples No Comments »

Now that we have seen the octuplet mom’s story on TV we now feel like we should help them right? Nadya Suleman has launched a website just for that purpose. It went live yesterday and has a picture of Nadya, the pictures of the octuplets and the caption “Proud Mother Of 14″. The homepage has many links, one for her message board and one where you can give a donation (she takes Mastercard, Discover, or even American Express.) It also includes an address where you can send any items you want to give to her.

“We thank you for the love and good wishes sent to us from around the world. The octuplets arrived on 1-26-09. They are all healthy and growing stronger by the day,” the Web site says.

I wonder how many people will be inclined to help her. Will you be donating?

World’s First Look At The Octuplets

February 9th, 2009 Taylor Blue Posted in General News, Interviews, Multiples No Comments »

Nadya Suleman showed off her eight babies to the world this morning; Maliah, Noah, Jonah, Isaiah, Nariah, Jeremiah, McCai and Josiah. She has the names from the Bible going on, which seems to be appropriate for what she has went through. The premature babies have turned two weeks old and are so tiny and adorable. Nadya talks to Ann Curry about the babies and how happy she is that they are here, and how she will take care of them when they get home…here are the highlights.

On introducing the babies: “Hi, Maliah, your eyes are open…This is Noah and he’s doing well. He’s blond, the only one with blond hair…Hiya, Jonah … this tiniest one was the troublemaker…This is Isaiah, baby C, he’s getting bigger, he’s starting to recognize my voice…I wish I could be here all day…This is Jeremiah. He’s on lights for jaundice…Hiya, McCai…Hi, Josiah, I wish I could stay all day long, but I can’t. Your brothers and sisters at home want to see you … I can’t wait until they’re all together. We are not a whole family.”

On how people think she is doing all this for money: . “That’s funny how untrue that is. Money? Money is necessary to raise children. But it’s — it’s paper. It is paper. To me, it is superfluous in contrast to the importance of my kids.”

On how she is making money: “I’m not receiving help from the government. I’m not trying to expect anything from anybody. I just wanted to do it on my own. Any resources that someone would really, really want to help us, I will accept, I would embrace.”

On how she will feed her babies: “I will feed them. I will do the best I possibly can. And in my own way, in my own faith, I do believe wholeheartedly that God will provide in his own way.”

On how she is going to take care of her large family and let no one be ignored: “All I can do is do my very best and be there for them; be present in their lives and have them my absolute priority in my life. I was not expecting it.”

Talking With The Octuplet Mom Nadya Suleman

February 7th, 2009 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Baby Names, Multiples No Comments »

NBC was the one that nabbed the interview with the octuplet mom, Nadya Suleman, and in a two part interview she talks about her decision in having her kids and the passion she has for wanting to take care of them. Here is a quick transcript of what Ann Curry and the mom talked about

On people thinking she is irresponsible and has no way of supporting the children: “I know I’ll be able to afford them when I’m done with my schooling. If I was just sitting down watching TV and not being as determined as I am to succeed and provide a better future for my children, I believe that would be considered, to a certain degree, selfish.”

On how she holds her premature babies 45 minutes every day: “All I wanted was children. I wanted to be a mom. That’s all I ever wanted in my life. I love my children. I’m providing myself to my children. I’m loving them unconditionally, accepting them unconditionally. Everything I do, I’ll stop my life for them and be present with them. And hold them. And be with them. And how many parents do that? I’m sure there are many that do, but many don’t. And that’s unfortunate. That is selfish.”

On how she has always wanted a big family: “That was always a dream of mine, to have a large family, a huge family, and I just longed for certain connections and attachments with another person that I really lacked, I believe, growing up. I didn’t feel as though, when I was a child, I had much control of my environment. I felt powerless. And that gave me a sense of predictability. Reflecting back on my childhood, I know it wasn’t functional. It was pretty dysfunctional, and whose isn’t?”

I’m really glad that this mom has got her wish for a huge family, but at what cost? I hope she’s very happy and the kids are happy and really that’s all that counts right?

Kate Gosselin Talks About How The Octuplet Mother Is Feeling

February 3rd, 2009 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Moms, Kate Gosselin, Multiples No Comments »

Kate Gosselin says she knows exactly how the new mom to octuplet’s feels. She said when she heard the news it brought up all the feelings of giving birth to her sextuplets. In an interview with the LA Times she tells how she thinks the new mom is feeling right now and what kind of realities lie ahead. (The Duggar family was contacted for this interview but they declined because they didn’t know how it felt to have eight kids at once.)

On what the mom is feeling physically: Right now, the mother is likely exhausted yet grateful that her babies are here and doing well so far! She is probably inundated with offers from people, companies and the media. Her main focus now though is her babies and their health…. Nothing else matters right now. She is feeling overwhelmed and as though she is in a fog. Feelings of helplessness and fear threaten to overtake! We relied on prayer and lots of it!!! We were blessed with all healthy babies and still don’t forget that miracle!

On the new mom planning to nurse all eight babies: I think by ‘breastfeeding’ she plans on offering the option to each baby … but will pump and supplement for all of them. I pumped/breastfed for six months for my six…. Quite a feat! It was the least I could do for my babies! There is literally not enough time to exclusively breastfeed six let alone eight babies.

On how the new mom will help the other six children adjust to the babies: She can get them involved in the care of the babies…. Point out their unique qualities…. And, no joke, help the other kids learn which baby is which. Quite a job! I remember Cara and Mady being frustrated with themselves when they got babies confused at first! It didn’t take long!:) Taking time with each child will definitely be a challenge!

On advice Kate has to the new mom: There are no words to describe the overwhelming emotions that will flow from you — ones you will have to suppress till way later, ones that you think will overtake you. People will want to help, people will want to simply gawk, others will judge you. Through all of this, keep your head up, and do your absolute best for your children…. You’ll never regret it.

I don’t know how the new mom could do it with eight babies. I have only had my kids one at a time and found that was a huge challenge. I would be a mess with eight.

Jon & Kate Gosselin Share Their Christmas Secrets

December 15th, 2008 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Dads, Celebrity Moms, Multiples, Twins 1 Comment »

Kate Gosselin is the mother in the house, she also lives with her husband, Jon, and 8-year-old Cara and Mady and 4-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, Leah and Collin. Kate shared her Christmas plans and tips for saving money.

What are your plans for Christmas? “We’re just going to continue our Christmas tradition of caroling. And we’ll bake.”

Are you working on songs for this year? “I haven’t started yet. But the kids are older now so they’ll learn faster. Or we’ll do the ones from last year!”

What gifts are the kids asking for? “Well, we have 4-year-olds and I remember this from when Cara and Maddy were 4. They come running and say, ‘Mommy, Mommy, I want this’… and I’ll say, ‘What is it? Where did you hear of that?’ And they’ll say, ‘On TV!’”

What kind of TV do they watch? “They’re Disney kids. And to be honest, our show is their favorite thing. They ask to watch it all the time. It’s interesting. It’s like them watching their memories.”

Would you have ever thought 10 years ago you would be a TV star? “No, it’s ridiculously funny. I just think of myself as a mom so it’s funny when people get all worked up about seeing us. It’s not what I thought I’d ever be doing.”

Rumor has it you are looking to move. Has that happened yet? “We don’t say, but we are planning to move at some point and it will be covered on the show. We’ve outgrown our house. But the show will go on.”

Have you felt the economic crunch? “We all have, but I have always cut coupons. I’ve always looked at the sale fliers and I’ve always planned my meals ahead of time. You know, long before gas prices went up and they were saying ‘group your errands,’ we were already doing that out of necessity.”

The kids are usually dressed alike. Do any of them prefer to dress differently? “They don’t mind either way. At home they open the drawers and dress themselves and you can imagine some of the outfits they come up with. And I don’t fight them any more. I would have fought Maddy and Cara at that age. I did. I’d say, ‘Go back upstairs and change, you’re hurting my eyes.’ But I don’t fight them anymore.

Do the kids know that they’re celebrities? “They don’t understand it. To them, it’s their normal. They’ve been filming since they were 15-months-old and they don’t know any different. And I’ve taught them — and at 4 they understand — that if people are taking pictures, and it bothers you, just say, ‘No, thank you’ and turn your back.”

Do you enjoy doing the show? “The blessings are we get to work from home, we’re there with them. We get to travel. There’s so many experiences that we wouldn’t otherwise have. I feel like it’s making them so well-rounded.”

Kate Gosselin Tells Her Side Of The Story

December 12th, 2008 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Dads, Celebrity Kids, Celebrity Moms, Kate Gosselin, Multiples, Twins No Comments »

Jon and Kate Gosselin have gained popularity by their show that’s on TLC, Jon and Kate Plus 8, it has been met with praise and criticism. And now Kate talked to Parent Dish with her side of the story.

On if the show is scripted: “We don’t have time to memorize scripts. We set out to show the truth. I couldn’t watch it if it weren’t true.”

On what people write about her: “Everyone has an opinion and I’m only paying attention to my own. If Jon and I have three spats over a two day period, they’re going to edit it to make it look like those happened in the 22 minute period.”

On her goal to treat every child like an only child: “I hold myself to a very high standard,” she says. At the same time, though, she’s not trying to be perfect, or even to appear perfect to viewers of the show. She’s just living her life.

On what bugs her the most during the day: “There are days when the older girls, Cara and Mady, come home from school and their reports about what they have done are drowned out by the noise of the sextuplets. More than anything [I long] for peace and quiet — otherwise, [I] would not change a thing about [my] life.”

Kate’s advice for parents: “Every morning, before my feet hit the floor. I pray for strength, just enough to get through that day.” She reminds parents that a sense of humor can get you through nearly everything — laugh, she says, don’t cry. And finally, the most important lesson of all: “Always remember that bedtime comes, every single day.”

Crazy Baby Things: Fetal Cookie Cutters

November 14th, 2008 Taylor Blue Posted in General News, Multiples, Pregnant Celebrities 1 Comment »

There is no way better to celebrate a life by going to a baby shower with fetal cookies. I think they are really cute. But there’s no way I could actually bite into one. Now that I’m thinking about it, this might be a good way to tell your husband you are having multiple babies…ask him if he would like a cookie. And then state the amount of fetus cookies on the plate equals the amount of fetus’ in your tummy. I’m sure he would love that idea!

The Gosselins Cover Good Housekeeping

October 8th, 2008 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Dads, Celebrity Moms, Interviews, Kate Gosselin, Magazines, Multiples, TV, Twins No Comments »

The Gosselins have become popular fast because of the TLC show Jon and Kate Plus 8. They are Good Housekeeping’s cover family for the month of November. The kids are as follows: Cara, Mady, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Collin, and Joel. Here are some excerpts from the interview in the magazine..

During the First Months With Eight Children
KATE: “There were days I just wanted to cover my head with a pillow. But I knew my babies were counting on me, and I had to keep it together. I had to keep it together for Jon, who was falling apart — he’d been laid off when I was pregnant and was applying for every job under the sun.”

The Strain on Their Marriage
KATE: “But our marriage is going to go through many more years of fine-tuning. Right now it’s taking a beating, because we have a house full of children. People see us arguing, and they say ‘When will Kate and Jon split up?’ Well, never. He’s the only one who’s been by my side through all of this.”

Life Will Never Be Normal Again
KATE: “People come here and say, ‘I feel like I’m watching your show.’ That’s because this is our show. We will never feel normal again, TV show or not. Does anyone see a family with twins and sextuplets every day? No. It took me until the little kids were almost 2 to completely accept it.”

Parenting Eight Kids
KATE: “I’m trying to focus on the enjoyable moments, rather than keeping them clean every minute. You have to realize you’re setting the rules for life. With six, we have no room for error.”

KATE: “It’s hard to turn my brain off at night. When I choose Leah to take to the grocery store, and I don’t know when I can tell the rest of them when their chances will be, that’s guilt.”

KATE: “Mady will come in and close the toilet lid and sit there and talk to me while I’m in the shower. I like to hear what they have to say. For me, that’s more like normal parenting.”

When They’re All Grown Up
JON: “I suddenly realized that I’m going to have five son-in-laws.”

KATE: “I have very vivid dreams of our family in the future — a house full of love, laughter, and lots of grandkids to spoil. I’m already worried about that empty-nest syndrome. Just as they came in a big group and overwhelmed us, they will likely leave in a big group, and the quiet will be even more deafening.”

There is also an excerpt from their new book that they somehow managed to write also, it’s in the issue too, available on newsstands October 14.
