Knocked Up Celebs

Michelle Williams is one of the darlings of this year’s awards season, with several nominations and a Golden Globe under her belt.  But the humble actress, who credited her daughter Matilda Ledger with her Golden Globe win, says that life as a mom is often just more important than any of the glamour of Hollywood.

Williams told Ann Curry of Today that she was so “absorbed” in getting Matilda ready for school last Tuesday that she didn’t even remember that Oscar nominations were expected that day.   She said:

“I was with friends. It had slipped my mind, which is something so great about having a kid.  You get really absorbed, especially mornings. You’ve got to get out the door, make breakfast, get the snowsuit on, get everybody in the car, carpooling. Then I stopped at a friend’s house to have breakfast. I was outside examining something in nature, a stone structure, and she opened up the door with her baby on her hip and said, ‘Michelle, they just called your name on TV.’ …It was a very sweet way to hear it.”

In the end, Williams says, awards just aren’t that important.

“My success as a parent is what matters the most to me.”

Exactly as it should be.

Michelle Williams took home a Golden Globe on Sunday night for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her role in My Week With Marilyn, but don’t think for a minute that she feels she earned that achievement alone.  Williams gives much credit for her success to her daughter, Matilda Ledger (6).

In her acceptance speech, Williams said:

“I consider myself a mother first and an actress second, and so the person I most want to thank is my daughter, my little girl, whose bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and in my life.  I want to say thank you for sending me off to this job every day with a hug and a kiss.  I couldn’t have done it any other way.”

Awwww… footage of that speech is going to be so special to Matilda someday.

Michelle Williams is mom to, Matilda Ledger, who is now 5 years old! (How time flies.) She is doing press for her new movie, Blue Valentine, who she stars with Ryan Gosling, has revealed that life as a mom is her ‘new normal’.

“Five years down the road, it’s my new normal. Now I can’t imagine, I don’t even really remember or would want my life previous. You make it work. You keep getting out of bed. Sometimes it’s just because you know there’s a cup of coffee downstairs.”

And she sings the praises of community and how they helped her when Heath Ledger died.

“I loved so much becoming a mom and what had been, to me, this invisible community before that sort of rises up and says, ‘We’re here to help you.’ I was so moved by this new kind of community of people. And then when I became a single mother, there was a smaller but equally powerful community that rose up.”

It still so weird to think as Heath as gone. But I’m glad that Michelle has found the strength in being a single mother. I know for a fact being a single mother is hard, it challenges me every day.

Newly 4-year old, Matilda Ledger, was spotted with mom, Michelle Williams, yesterday while they were headed for school in Brooklyn, New York. Matilda was carrying a Cinderella figurine while they were walking, I wonder if that was one of her birthday presents from her birthday on Wednesday that she received?

Michelle Williams went for a rainy walk today in New York with, Matilda, while she was dropping her off for school. Matilda looked adorable in her pink rain boots and yellow rain jacket.

Up next for Michelle is the release of the movie, Blue Valentine, which also stars, Ryan Gosling. The movie is about a married couple, and it charts their evolution over a span of years by cross-cutting between time periods.

Michelle Williams and daughter, Matilda, were spotted in New York yesterday getting a cold drink and a scooter ride. It looks like Matilda was enjoying the cold drink that they bought.

Michelle has been talking to the paparazzi about taking pictures of them walking. They seem to be respecting them more and staying back from them. Michelle is also considering trying to pass a law to get photographers charged that harass celebrities.

Michelle Williams went for a morning stroll with daughter, Matilda, and mother, Carla, this morning in Brooklyn.

Michelle recently admitted that she knows when someone recognizes her as a celebrity…

“A lot of the time I can [go unnoticed]. But I know when someone recognizes me. You get like this sixth sense – even when they think that they’re being very subtle you still know. You can feel it. But I still take the subway, and it’s harder now especially, but I feel like you can, with enough effort, sort of cloak yourself.”

I know that if I had recognized them I would try and be as cool as I could be. It looks like it wouldn’t work for Michelle.

Michelle Williams took daughter, Matilda, out with a friend to get coffee this morning in New York. It’s always a pleasure to see the two of them together.

Michelle has signed up to star in the movie Blue Valentine with Ryan Gosling. It’s about a couple in the midst of a failing marriage and how they look back on better times. I can’t wait to see that one!

While Michelle Williams was busy running errands in New York today, while Michelle’s boyfriend, Spike Jonze, took care of adorable Matilda.

It looks like Matilda is having fun laughing. But I always thought that was fun when I was up on my dad’s shoulders too. Even though I was scared of heights.

Michelle Williams was spotted with daughter, Matilda, and a friend on Friday morning in New York. You always see Matilda with a smile on her face and being swung back and forth by anyone that Michelle has with her. It’s so nice to see her happy.
