Kimora Lee Simmons & Kids Hit The Grove For Candy

November 1st, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Kids, Kimora Lee Simmons No Comments »

Kimora Lee Simmons and kids, Ming Lee, 10, Aoki Lee, 8, Kenzo Lee, 1, were all spotted at The Grove yesterday in Los Angeles for some fun. I’ve never thought about going trick or treating during the day. And it would be really weird for me to not wear my snowsuit under my costume. It’s usually really cold in Canada at this time of year. We have to make sure we can fit a snow suit underneath the kids costumes (and sometimes ours too).

Kimora Lee Simmons had baby, Kenzo, almost a year ago now. It’s hard to believe that he’s so old now. They are both on the cover of the current issue of Baby Couture. Kimora maintains that having Kenzo has made her instincts stronger. In the interview she talks about having a boy and the chaos of everyday life. Here are the highlights:

On growing as a person: “I’ve grown as a person, so some things are different.”

On having a boy: “Having a son was a twist, but of course I’m happy and loving it.”

On the chaos of her life: “My days are full, that’s for sure. But they’re filled with love and passion — my family and my work. My schedule is frequently hectic, but it’s always fulfilling.”

On Ming, 10, and Aoki, 7, on adjusting to life with a new baby: “They’re very nurturing and have been gung-ho about welcoming Kenzo to our family. They’re very protective and love to watch him explore and discover the world.”

Kimora Lee Simmons Offers Her 10 Best Parenting Tips

March 26th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Kids, Kimora Lee Simmons No Comments »

Kimora Lee Simmons

Kimora Lee Simmons is a mother of three kids. We all know that she must have some good parenting tips to share. She recently shared her top 10 parenting tips to MyStyle. Here they are:

1. Happiness Is Inside: Great shoes or handbags can make you feel fabulous but only temporarily. It’s fun to look cute, but I teach my girls that bliss from material goodies will fade like a candy high if they lack substance underneath all the sparkle and shine.

2. Live Generously: My girls and I regularly go through their rooms to find clothes and toys to donate to charities. I firmly believe that children who have been given so much need to experience the joy that comes from giving. All children can do things to help, whether how big or small—by donating toys or lending a hand in the community.

3. Expose Children to Different Cultures, Places and People: Even if you can’t afford to travel the world, you can take your children to the museum, zoo or local park. And don’t be afraid to take them to grownup spots. Eating out in a restaurant teaches children how to be quiet and polite—and gives them the pleasure of knowing you trust them to behave.

4. Make Time for Fun: I encourage my children to try new things—dance, tennis, soccer, you name it, I want them to try it. But I don’t want them to feel like they have to take every class just to please me. Kids need time to be kids! My recipe for good parenting includes a healthy dose of discipline and a lot of love.

5. Embrace Uniqueness: Don’t try to blend in with all the other moms—it’s OK to stand out from the crowd and be yourself. The best way to teach children to resist peer pressure is to resist it yourself.

6. Make Self-Reliance Your Foundation: Encourage your daughters to strive for independence and you’ll raise girls who aren’t afraid to grab every opportunity and fend for themselves when Mommy’s not around.

7. Moms Need Love Too: Somewhere in the midst of all the mommy mayhem, you need to take a moment for pampering or a special treat. It could be a day at the spa, a bouquet of flowers or just meditation or a good workout. If you don’t take time to take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of others.

8. Don’t Try to Be Supermom: Balancing all that comes with building a company while raising two girls and now my little boy is the biggest (and most fulfilling) challenge of my life. I remind myself every day not to take on more than I can handle. I don’t need to be a hero; I just need to do my best.

9. Brush Your Shoulders Off: Pettiness exists at every stage in life, so brush it off and encourage your kids to do the same. If you waste time wallowing in negativity, that attitude will rub off on your kids.

10. Everything You Can Imagine Is Real: Being a mom doesn’t mean you have to give up your own dreams. Visualize your life. That means making a blueprint of every step along the way, from what you’re wearing to how you will balance home and work life. By imagining every detail, you will be able make it happen.

Bonus: Self-Confidence Is a Legacy. Build yours up by starting with something simple, like taking pride in writing a good report at work or getting the kids to school on time with a healthy lunch. Every time you pat yourself on the back, your children learn to do the same.

Kimora Lee Simmons Would Like More Children

March 10th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Dads, Celebrity Kids, Kimora Lee Simmons 1 Comment »

Kimora Lee Simmons

Kimora Lee Simmons has a beautiful boy, Kenzo, with husband, Djimon Hounsou, and she would like to have more children with him.

“Definitely. We practice all the time, and it’s a lot of fun. I definitely can see myself having more. I know Djimon wants more. I would love to have another little boy.” She also reveals that Djimon is a “totally amazing” father. “It’s really changed his life. Seeing him change a diaper and get up in the middle of the night…he’s very nervous.”

In the meantime she makes sure that she instills the right values in her two older daughters.

“I try to raise them similarly to the way I was raised, which is to have good values and good morals and to be well-supported and to in turn, support others,” she says. “I think it’s very important. My mother was the same way with me. I think I was blessed in that area.”

What are the things she hopes to instill in them?

“I want them to know that I love and support them no matter what their choices are in life,” she says. “I can’t make their choices for them, but I hope to try and guide them in the right way, and teach them about compassion, spirituality, caring about others and caring about yourself. Self-respect, and respecting others.”

I think she is on her way to having an amazing family.

Kimora Lee Simmons & Family On The Cover Of Ebony

January 14th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Dads, Celebrity Kids, Kimora Lee Simmons No Comments »

kimora-ebony-cover-february-2010

Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou are on the February 2010 cover of Ebony magazine. The children, Ming, Aoki and Kenzo, are also featured in the spread. In the intimate interview with the magazine the couple talks about about meeting and how Kimora feels about Djimon. Here are the highlights:

Djimon on how they met: “She turned around and said, ‘Hi, my name is Kimora Lee,’ and I said ‘Right, you don’t need to introduce yourself. I am quite aware of who you are.’…We were having a deep conversation about our families, about kids, about this and that…And then the eyes meet….and I realized, there’s so much more to her. I never thought she would be as grounded as she seemed that night…As I was giving her my number, I said, ‘Well, I hope you would enjoy the number for something other than your fashion shows or get-togethers or parties…First thing in the morning, I sent her a text. I wanted to catch her because she was to leave and go back to New York. I wanted to get, as we say, a good conversation in before she took off. I sent a text and said, ‘Hey, if you are up for dinner…’ And that’s how we started it. I said to her, ‘You’re one very successful woman. You have it great. You have two kids. You are married to one of the most iconic men in the world (Kimora and Russell were separated before she and Djimon met). What else could you need? Or want?’ I was much more skeptical of where she was coming from than I was about what I had to offer. I realized that she was looking for a great foundation as far as relationships are concerned and that really hit me. No woman has ever made me feel the way she makes me feel. She makes me dream big.”

Kimora on Djimon: “He’s just different. I can’t explain it. If you meet Djimon, to know his personality and his sentiment. (she sighs) I don’t know. He’s just different spiritually. I just never would have thought a life could be possible like this. Me and Djimon can be in a room full of people or we can be in a room alone and we maintain a connection. I feel like he’s my long-lost friend. Something about him is really nourishing for my soul and makes me very happy. I don’t feel like I’m keeping up with any Joneses. I don’t feel like my hair or my clothes have to be a certain way. I don’t feel like I need anything. I feel like I’m more than a complete person, Djimon really completes me. I feel like my life has fallen into the right place in a great way. I’ve been very slow and deliberate, and I feel like it has paid off for me in ways that I could not have imagined.”

The photo shoot with the family is really cute. The only place I was able to find it was covered all in watermarks. If I find better quality pictures I will fix the link.

Kimora Lee Simmons & Family Celebrate Christmas Early

December 3rd, 2009 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Dads, Celebrity Kids, Kimora Lee Simmons No Comments »

Kimora Lee Simmons and Family

Kimora Lee Simmons and husband, Djimon Hounsou, have already decorated their home in New Jersey.  Kimora shared with Page Six details on her marriage,  family and how they plan on spending their Christmas. Here are the highlights:

On their new marriage: “It happened in Africa, in Benin. [Daughters Ming, 9, and Aoki, 7] were there, and we had a wonderful time. It was very calm, family-motivated and spiritual. Djimon and I enjoy discussing anything from politics to wine, and we have enriching, private, happy, balanced lives together. That’s probably the thing that would shock people most: We do things like go to the grocery store and have fun with our kids. We’re a normal family, doing the best we can.”

On family: “My family is the most important thing to me. I’ve never missed any type of performance—not one recital, not one karate belt. If there’s a toe being tapped or a tune being whistled, I am there. We do everything together. I know we live a little bit of a different life, with all the running around and the TV show, so I want to make sure we’re even more grounded.”

On her favorite Christmas treats: “I bake. I make a great German chocolate cake. Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m a great baker, the best. When I bake something, I swear to god, it’s gone before it hits the plate.”

It should be exciting in their house to celebrate Christmas with a new baby in the house.

Kimora Lee Simmons Dishes About Motherhood To Working Mother

August 17th, 2009 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrity Dads, Celebrity Kids, Kimora Lee Simmons 1 Comment »

Kimora Lee Simmons and Family

Kimora Lee Simmons spent the day out with husband, Djimon Hounsou, and her daughters, Ming Lee, 9 ½, and Aoki Lee Simmons, 7, yesterday seeing Shrek the Musical at the Broadway Theatre in New York.

Kimora  recently talked to Working Mother about how motherhood is important to her…

“We’re all in the same boat. We have similar fears and hopes for our kids. We bring home the bacon, and then we enjoy it with our kids. They need us and we need them. My kids and my business make my world go ’round — they’re what I live for.”

I think that is what a lot of kids are lacking these days is respect. I wish I knew how to fix the problem, but I am only one person. I am glad that Kimora is teaching her kids the importance.
