You Can Get Santa To Text Your Kids

December 7th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrities, General News No Comments »

This world seems to get funnier and funnier with it’s technology. I remember back in the old days when I would think that my letter to Santa got to him and somehow the gift that I wanted would be under my tree. But now there is so many ways that kids can get a hold of Santa. I wonder how we ever survived.

Now they have a site that is said up, albeit for charity purposes, that you can get Santa to text you one to three times depending on how much you pay. I thought it was a silly thing, but if you pay for it and the money goes to charity and your kids get a kick out of it then I say why not.

Is there anything special you will do for your kids so that you can keep the spirit of Santa alive?

The Coloring Books I Love

November 26th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in General News, Product Reviews No Comments »

There is a new story coming to the city where I live. It’s called Anthropologie. The other day I was hanging out with some friends and we decided we would all sit around and color. And this is what they pulled out…these awesome coloring books. I love coloring books that challenge you and these do. They make you doodle and scribble and be creative. When the store opens here soon I’ll be buying them for myself (okay and one for the kids too). It could be a great family night thing.

Here is the information from the store website so you can check it out too!

Cuteness Overload: Three-Year Old Dancing To Thriller

November 1st, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrities, General News No Comments »

Buzzfeed has to be one of my favorite stops of the day and today they didn’t disappoint. Since it was Halloween yesterday I thought I would celebrate by posting this video they had on the site of a three-year old dancing to Thriller. You have to admit that he had the potential. I wonder if he’ll be a dancer when he gets older?

Mother Kills Child Over Farmville

October 28th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrities, General News No Comments »

When I read about this story of mother who killed their 3 month child over Farm Ville I was disgusted. I thought for sure I had to write about it to prove that things can sometimes get out of hand. Especially when people are playing Farm Ville.

Alexandra Tobias, 22, from Jacksonville, Florida was charged with second-degree murder after she shook her baby to death. She pleaded guilty.

When she was arrested for the death She told investigators she became angry because the baby was crying while she was playing FarmVille (on Facebook of course). She said she shook the baby, smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook him again. She said the baby may have hit his head during the shaking.

Her sentence can be up to 25 years in prison.

The PhoneBook Making Kids Books Interactive

August 27th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrities, General News No Comments »

Kids love having books read to them. And this is no exception to the rule. Just put your iPhone or iPod into the book and it becomes an interactive story. I know that I would love to read that book too. So maybe parents and kids can both get a kick out of it. You have to check out PhoneBook that was made by Mobile Art Lab. You have to watch the video above because there really isn’t a way to explain it.

The best thing is that you can only get it in Japan. Or here.

Try This To Get Your Kids To Eat Their Fruits & Veggies

June 18th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in General News, Product Reviews No Comments »

I am not a huge fan of fruits and vegetables. I admit that I only like to buy the most expensive fruits and it has to be when they aren’t in season too. But last week I tasted this smoothie, Naked juice. They say there is one pound of fruit in one little drink. The picture above shows how many fruits they can cram into that thing. Now what I am saying is that if they can do that then this could be something that you could use to get your kids to eat their fruits and vegetables this way. The drinks are so good and come in so many flavors, there would be something there for everyone.

There is something satisfying about drinking 3 1/2 apples in one shot.

McDonald’s Recalls Shrek Glasses

June 4th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Celebrities, General News, Product Recalls No Comments »

I have to admit that I love when McDonald’s has their glasses they are always so cute and I literally drink out of them all the time. I have two of these glasses in my house and now I find out they are being recalled.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall on McDonald’s Shrek-themed drinking glasses after they discovered the paint used for the designs contained cadmium. Almost 12 million of the glasses were made and the recall effects all of the designs, Shrek, Fiona, Puss In Boots  and Donkey.

CPSC spokesperson Scott Wolfson told the Associated Press: “A very small amount of cadmium can come to the surface of the glass, and in order to be as protective as possible of children, CPSC and McDonald’s worked together on this recall.”

The amount of cadmium hasn’t been revealed but they are saying that “long term exposure to cadmium can cause adverse health effects.” There isn’t a refund program in effect yet but I will just be throwing my glasses away thinking about the safety instead of the money I spent on them.

A Great New Snack For Kids: Apple Sweets

February 8th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in General News, Product Reviews No Comments »

applesweets-4650-13ozberrycaramelslices

We had a new superstore Walmart open here just recently and I admit that is the only place I do my grocery shopping now. I find the selection is different and much cheaper than the other grocery stores we have around here. At one of the trips to Walmart last week I found these really cool apple slices, Apple Sweets. I am lazy. I admit it and it’s much easier to have the apples sliced and ready for your kids to eat whenever they are already prepared. And check these apples out they are infused with Wild Berry or Country Fair Caramel flavoring.

When I was eating the second bag that I stole from my son I had to figure out how they got the flavoring in. You can faintly taste the wild berry but I wasn’t sure how. I found their site and they are really top secret on how they do it. They just say that it is “infused” with the flavor at processing.

I think it’s a great idea for the kids that hate eating plain apples. And if it has caramel flavor too you have the taste without the mess.

Check Out These New Ketchup Packets

February 5th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in General News No Comments »

Heinz Ketchup

One of the greatest perks of the job is seeing things I like and writing about them. I saw this this morning when a friend of mine Popbytes said that he loved this new redesign. Now, I am not really a fan of eating much ketchup but as a mom I think this is the most amazing invention ever.

I go to McDonald’s once a week with the kids and I hate it when we always have to squeeze the packets of ketchup onto a napkin. Or we squeeze them into the little cups because I hate the sound of my french fries hitting my napkin. This solution is perfect! I can either squeeze it out (say if I am at home and I ran out of ketchup and wanted to use them) or I can use them to dip my french fries in. I think it’s pretty handy!

The article that was talking about them wasn’t so sure if restaurants would grab them though, unless they were cost effective. I find they might even help when people (mostly mothers) order their food in the drive-thru to make the kids happy and give them their french fries. Now at least they can rest that ketchup packet on an arm rest and then the kids could dip them. I could probably think of a million ways to use these.

I know…it’s just ketchup.

An Interview With Chris Illuminati…An Expectant Father

November 10th, 2009 Taylor Blue Posted in General News, Pregnant Celebrities No Comments »

Ultrasound

When a couple finds out they are pregnant it seems that everyone only focuses on the mother to be. But what about the father? They must have so many questions and concerns too. But most of the time they sit around in silence and just ride with tide. I have a friend, Chris Illuminati, and he is an expectant father. I thought I would do an interview with him just so people could find out what the dad thinks in all this mess .. I mean the greatest time of their lives.

What is your favorite side effect of your wife’s pregnancy? I’m not sure it’s a side effect but I love that the pregnancy is a Get Out of Jail Free card for social obligations. No one can argue when a pregnant woman doesn’t want to leave her house. Mr. President I’d love to come for dinner but the wife is feeling gassy and doesn’t want to get out of her PJ’s. Some other time?

What is your least favorite side effect of your wife’s pregnancy? She has trouble sleeping. She never had trouble sleeping. Now she is up all odd hours. To make matters worse, after years of insomnia, I’m suddenly sleeping like a log. She will sometimes wake me up to let me know she is having trouble sleeping. What I’m supposed to do with this information I’m not quite sure.

How many sympathy pounds have you gained? They shouldn’t be called sympathy pounds. That makes it sound like men feel bad and put out weight out of sympathy. It should be called expectancy pounds, as in, she expects me to eat when she wants and what she wants. Therefore, my stomach is the size of a Prius. Actually, only like five pounds.

Have you had any side effects from the pregnancy? Yeah, it’s the weirdest thing, every once in a while I’ll scream “HOLY **** I’M GOING TO BE A DAD!”. I never used to do that.

How do you think you will be as a father? According to everyone in the world I’ll be a great dad. I think I will be a good dad but I’m going to spoil the kids. That is never good. I can’t say no. Especially when it comes to toys. Christ, I CAN’T RESIST TOY SHOPPING how the h**l can I say no if the kid’s want to go.

What are you hoping for a boy or a girl? I just [keep] saying I wanted a healthy and happy child. I’m a liar I [want] a boy in the worst way.

Have you been to the childbirth classes? Not yet. I think they will be fun. Can I bring a date though?
