When a couple with kids decides to divorce, one of the biggest questions they face is “How do we talk to the kids about this?” (And if you’ve ever had that conversation with your children, you know how much it sucks.) Heidi Klum and Seal, who just announced their plans to divorce, are no exception. Seal recently shared with Access Hollywood how they let their kids know about their split.

“We talk to them, we try to explain as best we could what is going on.  [We're] just explaining to them that things will be different, you know, without going into too much detail. Things will be different.”

Seal, who has four children with Klum – Leni (7), Henry (6), Johan (5) and Lou (2) – says one important thing won’t change, though:  the love the kids get from their parents.

“The main thing is to make sure that they feel that they’re loved. Make sure they understand that their parents love each other [and] … it has absolutely nothing to do with them.”

The couple were married for seven years.

Orlando Bloom stopped for a cleansing treat at The Detox Market in West Hollywood on Thursday.   He was dressed way down in purple sweatpants, but let’s be real: when you’re Legolas Greenleaf, do you really need a lot of window dressing to look good?

He’s also a good dad to his son Flynn, says his wife, model Miranda Kerr.  She recently told People:

“He has really stepped up to the role and is very hands-on.  It makes me proud that he is such a good dad.”

Celebrity dads watch their kids play sports just like any other parents, and Ryan Phillippe is no exception.   He was in the stands last weekend to watch his son Deacon (8) play basketball in L.A.’s Brentwood area.   Also at the game were Deacon’s sister Ava (12)… and dad’s new girlfriend, Paulina Slagter.

Phillippe and Slagter have been dating for several weeks now, but that still seems kind of early to have her tag along for something like this, especially when you consider that at 20 years old, she’s closer in age to Ava than to Ryan.   Then again, since she can’t yet legally drink, maybe this is just her speed.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has scored another touchdown!  He and wife Brittany Brees are expanding their family:  Brittany is pregnant with the couple’s third child.

Drew and Brittany are already parents to two boys, Baylen Robert (3) and Bowen Christopher (15 mo).   Will they go three for three with another boy this time around, or is Brittany cooking up a little Miss Brees?  We’ll have to wait awhile longer to find out, as she’s just 2 1/2 months along.

Kelsey Grammer and his new wife Kayte Walsh are expecting, and they’re getting more than they probably bargained for:  Walsh  is carrying twins!

Grammer is excited about becoming a dad again.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting these new arrivals.”

He’s convinced that Walsh will make a great mom.

“She’s one of the most loving, amazing, warm human beings I’ve ever met. She’s funny and serious all at the same time. She’s an amazing person and I think she’ll blow [the kids] away.”

Grammer has been engaged in a prolonged custody battle over his two kids with ex-wife Camille Grammer, Mason (9) and Jude (6).   He also has two adult children, Spencer Grammer and Kandace Greer Grammer.

Celebrity dad Thomas Jane cut a dapper figure at the Golden Globes last weekend, looking like he just stepped off the set of Boardwalk Empire in his three piece suit and fedora.  (What can I say, I’m a sucker for a guy dressed as a gangster.) He had a big night, stopping in at at least three after parties following the awards.

Jane’s daughter Harlow Olivia Calliope Jane is now eight years old.  Her mom is Patricia Arquette, who was married to Jane for five years; their divorce was just finalized in June 2011.

Eric Benét and his wife Manuela Testolini have enough beauty genes to spare, and they lent some of their abundant good looks to their daughter Lucia, who was born just before Christmas.  Check out this beautiful family portrait of mom, dad and baby girl.

Benét was already a dad – his daughter India is 18  – but he seems to feel it’s better the second time around.  He said:

“Manuela and I are overjoyed with baby Lucia! She is perfect in every way and as expected, Manuela is truly proving to be the world’s best mother. She is so attentive, nurturing and loving. Little Lucia also gets a doting big sister in India, and an older, wiser daddy this time around. We must be the happiest family on the planet right now.”

Awwww… isn’t it great to hear a dad talk like that?

New parents Beyonce and Jay-Z have released a statement confirming the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

“We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012.  Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful – we are in heaven.

“She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs. It was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”

Parents will do just about anything to protect their children, even when it means injuring themselves, and Brad Pitt is no exception.  He’s been using a cane lately, and on Saturday night he explained why to reporters at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.   Pitt said:

“I was carrying my daughter [Vivienne] down the hill and I slipped.  It was either her or me.”

The result?  A torn ACL, the ligament that connects the lower leg bone – the tibia – to the femur. Ouch!  But his partner Angelina Jolie said this is just what parents do.

“When [Maddox] was younger, I took a fall and cracked my elbow because I wanted to make sure he didn’t have the fall,” Jolie said. “Every parent has injured themselves. Every parent will stand in the line of fire for their kids so it’s a normal thing.”

Jolie also confirmed that the fatherly act of protection was, in fact, successful.

“Vivie’s okay.  She was absolutely fine.”

The couple attended the Festival Gala, where Pitt was presented with the Desert Palm Achievement Award, for his performances in Moneyball and Tree of Life.

With no confirmation from the parents or their reps, there’s still some confusion about the new little one’s name.  Early reports gave the baby’s name as Ivy Blue, but E! says that Jay-Z is telling friends her name is Blue Ivy.
