Mario Lopez Dishes On Baby Names

Mario Lopez

Mario Lopez announced last week that his girlfriend, Courtney Mazza, was expecting their first child. Now already he’s worrying about baby names. He told Ryan Seacrest all about it yesterday.

“I don’t know what to do about the name thing. I like names that mean something. I don’t want to get too creative.”

The couple has decided to not find out whether the baby is a girl or a boy until the birth which makes finding a name harder. Also looking into their family tree it makes it that much harder.

“I always tease her because she’s 100 percent Italian, and I thought she would have some exotic name like Isabella or Francesca. And it’s Courtney. That’s what you get when you’re born in the ’80s.”

Mario sounds so excited but goes on to say that he feels like a kid waiting for Christmas. I always think it’s cute when other people get so excited.

Gisele Bundchen shines on the April 2010 cover of Vogue magazine. Gisele has always been so beautiful and is even more beautiful now that she’s had a baby. In the issue she opens up about giving birth to Benjamin, picking out his name and staying out of the public eye. Here are the highlights:

On giving birth at home in a bathtub: “I wanted to experience the transformation.”

On the whole experience of giving birth: “It was the most amazing experience of my life, feeling him come through my body. And once he was born, I never felt so empowered as looking at him and thinking, Oh, my God, we did it together!”

On wanting to name the baby River: “I wanted him to be called River because I wanted something always flowing, immortal. My husband said, ‘There’s no way we’re going to call him River.’ But my father’s name is Reinoldo, so it’s a homage to him. And it’s like water.”

On staying out of the public eye while being pregnant: “I felt like my pregnancy was a sacred moment for me … I didn’t work apart from the contracts I have, and then I only let them use my face.”

Padma Lakshmi Debuts Her Baby Girl

padma-lakshmi first baby photos

Padma Lakshmi gave birth to her baby girl, Krishna, just three weeks ago. And now we finally get to see what the cute little baby girl looks like. Padma was photographed in a park in New York City doting over her daughter.

Before Krishna was born she talked about how she was picking out the baby’s name:

“I am going to name the child an Indian name — I’m Indian…not a fancy name, but a name that is close to my family. It will be after someone in my family. So don’t expect to see an Anglicized name — it will be a classically Indian Sanskrit name.”

I think it’s a beautiful name.

Rebecca Gayheart and husband, Eric Dane, welcomed their baby girl on March 3rd. Not many details were known at the time but the couple has finally released a name.

The new baby girl’s name is Billie Beatrice. Eric had said previously that they wanted to wait to meet the baby before they picked out the name. I love that name for a girl.

Heidi Klum Talks About Naming Baby Lou

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum and husband, Seal, welcomed baby Lou Sulola, four months ago. Lou seems like an original name and Heidi told Ellen Degeneres on her show that it was a nobrainer for them to choose that name.

“We had four or five names that we really liked. We wanted to wait until she came out and then we liked Lou. I liked Ellie, but she looked more like a Lou. Lou was the winner.”

In pictures I have seen of baby Lou I have to agree. She is for sure a Lou.

Cobie Smulders Dishes On Her Baby Girl

February 13th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Baby Names, Celebrities, Celebrity Kids No Comments »

Cobie Smulders

Cobie Smulders plays one of my favorite characters on How I Met Your Mother and last May she became a mom. We haven’t heard much about her since then. But she was on the Bonnie Hunt Show talking about her baby girl, Shaelyn Cado. Here are the highlights of the interview:

On not sleeping much: “I think I sleep an average of four hours a night now and so it’s just functioning on fumes sometimes.”

On her daughter’s name: “Hopefully she won’t be teased too much. I went with it because I liked Shay and I had never really heard it before.”

On her daughter staying out of the business: “I hate to say no to anything, but from my personal experience, I would like to leave her out of it. I think it is a rejection thing and it’s a hard business for a woman to be in. If it’s what she wants to do, then it’s what she wants to do.”

Busy Phillips Explains Birdie’s Name

February 6th, 2010 Taylor Blue Posted in Baby Names, Celebrities, Celebrity Kids No Comments »

Busy Phillips and Birdie

Busy Phillips knows all about uncommon names. Her name is really Elizabeth but has been called Busy her whole life.

“The first day of school [or] anytime there was a substitute teacher, I had to explain that I preferred to be called this weird adjective instead of Elizabeth. And people would really give me the look that I was a little strange!”

And for her daughter, Birdie, the inspiration struck her when her and her husband were listening to a radio show about Lady Bird Johnson.

“My husband said, ‘Wow, what a cool woman and what an amazing name … it would be so cool to name a kid after her,’” Busy recalls. “We didn’t name Birdie before she was born. When she came out I said, ‘I think we gotta go with Birdie, I think that’s her name.’”

Birdie is a year old and it suits her just fine.

griffin-mcintyre

The other day Joey McIntyre posted a picture of his son, Griffin, 2, to his Twitpic. Griffin is getting so big now.

Recently on Twitter, Joey explained the meaning of his new baby boy, Rhys Edward, who was born on December 13th, 2009.

Rhys Edward McIntyre…has a regalness to it I think. Its a Welsh name fyi and the Edward is for the great senator from Boston Teddy K. And yes his initials are REM and yeah, I dig that band- Rhys is pronounced “reese”.

I can’t wait to see what the little guy looks like!

Padma Lakshmi is trying to keep the sex of the baby that she is expecting mum. Before she told us the baby names wouldn’t be Pomegranate or Atlanta. So what is she really going to name the baby?

“I am going to name the child an Indian name — I’m Indian…not a fancy name, but a name that is close to my family. It will be after someone in my family. So don’t expect to see an Anglicized name — it will be a classically Indian Sanskrit name.”

I love it when kids are named after someone. I can’t wait to find out what this name will be.
