Knocked Up Celebs

Some people, most notably celebrities, jump at the chance to give their children names no one has ever heard of before.  Not so for singer Ne-Yo and Monyetta Shaw.  When they were choosing a name for their new little son Mason (5 mo.), they had  one thing in mind:  they wanted it to be respectable.   The doting dad told People:

“We needed him to have a name that felt like a gentleman, like somebody you have to respect.  Mason Evan Smith, you have to respect that name.”

It’s all part of his plan to make sure his kids do well in life – or at least don’t do poorly:

“I’m just going to do my best so that my daughter doesn’t end up on a pole and my son doesn’t end up on the corner. And whatever they do outside of that is pretty much their decision.”

Iraq war vet, actor and dad-to-be J.R. Martinez says you won’t catch him picking a “unique” name for his baby.   Unlike many celebrities, when it comes to his daughter’s name, he’s going traditional.

“We won’t name her Apple Cider or Salami.  It won’t be our favorite dish or our favorite getaway or favorite car or show.  It will be something really close and personal to us that feels like we’re giving something to her that is very special.”

He and wife Diana Gonzalez-Jones have already done their research.

“We have narrowed it down to two names and we agree on it, which is good. I hear that traditionally, when it comes to the name picking, that’s when the disagreements occur… She’ll probably come out and we’ll be like, ‘That’s the name…I think it will be a nice flow.”

Now they’ve got me curious.  We’ll find out what they’ve named her in May when she arrives!

Congratulations to Shayne Lamas and Nik Richie!  They welcomed a baby girl on Friday, 11/11/11.

Lamas, who won the 12th season of The Bachelor, and Richie, who owns the website The Dirty, named their daughter Press Dahl Lamas-Richie.   Lamas explained their unique choice of name on her website:

“Her name came to us at the beginning of my pregnancy because she was getting so much press.  I think Press is a beautiful name, we’re elated, little princess Press!  It started as a joke, her nickname was ‘Press Baby,’ but when we found out it was a girl, suddenly that was her name – her name was going to be Press!”

Little Press was born via c-section, which had been planned… to take advantage of a cool birthdate, I wonder?

The new mom, a celebrity kid in her own right, is the daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas.

Congratulations to actor Neal McDonough and his wife Ruvé McDonough!  They welcomed their fourth child, a girl, on Monday, August 15th.

“Ruvé gave birth to a beauty! 8½ lbs. and 21 inches with thick dark hair like her gorgeous Mommy.  Ruvé is recovering well — we are so blessed.”

Little Clover Elizabeth joins her older siblings Morgan Patrick (5), Catherine Maggie, (4) and London Jane (19 mo.).

Neal is a television and movie actor who most recently appeared in Captain America:  The First Avenger.

The woman whose butt has inspired over 237,000 “likes” on Facebook may be proving herself influential by more than just her super-tight rear end.  Philippa “Pippa” Middleton‘s name is currently trending to become the hottest baby name of 2011.

The folks at baby name website Nameberry.com have analyzed over 23 million page views to date in 2011, and their data is clear:  interest in the name Philippa (“lover of horses”), and its common nickname Pippa, has skyrocketed since this January.

Other baby names to watch:

Girls – Luna, Hadley, Mila, Elula, Ada/Adeline/Adele/Adelaide

Boys – Asher, Arlo, Flynn, Everett

As for the more titled Middleton, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge?  Kate is considered the current “most stylish” nickname for the old standby, but its popularity is nowhere near that of Pippa/Philippa.

The Kardashians always seem to go out glamorous and this year is no exception!  This year the 11 of them got into the Christmas card act and posed for the card. And the cutest one of them all? Little Mason, 1, who is dressed up in a suit! Kim Kardashian posted this picture on her site with the following message:

“Hi dolls. Christmas cards have always been a REALLY big deal in my family. For as long as I can remember, my mom has made it a point to go all out, whether it was a ninja turtles themed card, or bringing a Santa into the mix, each year she always managed to top the year before. I’d have to say though that our card this year might be my favorite. It turned out beautifully — just SO glam! Plus, Mason is in it, which makes it even more special. Look at him standing there in his pinstripe suit, such a little gentleman!!! LOL. I love it!”

Do I dare say this picture is cuter than the one that the family did when they were all younger?
