Knocked Up Celebs

Parents will do just about anything to protect their children, even when it means injuring themselves, and Brad Pitt is no exception.  He’s been using a cane lately, and on Saturday night he explained why to reporters at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.   Pitt said:

“I was carrying my daughter [Vivienne] down the hill and I slipped.  It was either her or me.”

The result?  A torn ACL, the ligament that connects the lower leg bone – the tibia – to the femur. Ouch!  But his partner Angelina Jolie said this is just what parents do.

“When [Maddox] was younger, I took a fall and cracked my elbow because I wanted to make sure he didn’t have the fall,” Jolie said. “Every parent has injured themselves. Every parent will stand in the line of fire for their kids so it’s a normal thing.”

Jolie also confirmed that the fatherly act of protection was, in fact, successful.

“Vivie’s okay.  She was absolutely fine.”

The couple attended the Festival Gala, where Pitt was presented with the Desert Palm Achievement Award, for his performances in Moneyball and Tree of Life.

 Angelina Jolie gives a frank and thoughtful interview in Marie Claire‘s January 2012 issue.  She talks a lot about her new movie, In The Land Of Blood And Honey – her directorial debut – and also shares a little about her domestic life with partner Brad Pitt.

She credits Pitt for helping her create a happy family life.

“I suppose what I’ve learned from Brad is to be able to have the kind of family whose happiness and well-being comes before your own.  I’m very, very grateful to have such a loving family, and I wouldn’t have that without him.”

Any plans to expand the brood?

 “Nothing planned at the moment, but we just don’t know. I could end up pregnant.”

A few months ago Jolie told Vanity Fair pretty much the same thing, and just last month, Pitt said that he didn’t know for sure whether they were done expanding their family.   You would think after six kids they might know, but hey – at least they’re consistent!

Angelina Jolie appears on the cover of the current issue of Vanity Fair to talk about her directorial debut, In The Land Of Blood And Honey.   She also got a couple of burning questions out of the way.  She declared:

“I’m not pregnant. I’m not adopting at the moment.”

Angelina also affirms that there is “no secret wedding” planned for her and her longtime partner Brad Pitt.  So there!  (Anyway, Brad said back in 2006 that he and Angelina will remain unmarried until same sex marriage is recognized nationwide in the U.S.)

A source close to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt says that the Brangelina family’s celebrity life is starting to get to the kids.  Their child Pax Jolie-Pitt (7) is particularly suffering, as evidenced by some bad behavior.

“He’s become something of a bully.  He picks on [his sister] Shiloh, and even on his big brother, Maddox. He’s really having a tough time getting along with his siblings.”

The insider blames the life his parents lead.

“He’s having a difficult time with the constant schedule changes, and with the fact that people stare at him whenever he’s with his parents.”

I imagine that’s got to pretty much suck for a kid.  I mean, yes, the private train rides and such that come with having huge celebs for parents have got to be cool, but kids like consistency and routine, and there’s nothing about Brangelina’s life that suggests there’s even a modicum of normalcy.

Evidently Pax has been seeing a therapist to help him, which is good.  Hopefully that helps.

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and family have decamped from London to Scotland,   The whole clan will stay at an estate in Ayrshire for the next two weeks while Brad continues work on his new film, World War Z.

While dad’s running lines and fighting zombies, mom and the kids get to play at the estate, which is reportedly a “lavish, five-star” venue.     Angelina and the kids were spotted today walking in the gardens.  Beautiful!

The whole family – Shiloh (5), Zahara (6), Maddox (9), Pax (7), Vivienne and Knox (both 3) – traveled to Scotland on a private train, a Virgin Pendolino.  This was a special treat for the kids, a source said:

“Angelina took all the children to see the latest Harry Potter film recently, and they couldn’t stop talking about the Hogwarts Express afterwards. They’re used to traveling first-class on planes, but the children rarely travel on a train. They absolutely loved it, running up and down the carriages excitedly and peering out of the windows at the passing scenery.”

A regular ticket from London to Glasgow costs as little as $94, but the estimated cost of the Jolie-Pitt’s chartered ride was $66,000.  A spokesperson for Virgin Trains would not confirm the specific cost of their booking, though.

“We offer a bespoke service depending on the customer, so the price would depend on the individual.  People have all sorts of requirements and we couldn’t discuss details of an individual request.”

Angelina Jolie and her daughters Zahara and Shiloh made a trip to The Toy Station in London on Monday.   Angelina was all smiles, but the girls were not nearly so pleased with the media attention they received.  Zahara had her face screwed up in a scowl, while Shiloh just full on made faces and stuck her tongue out at the paps.   Guess she told them!

What was the occasion for the shopping trip?  The family is currently in London with dad Brad Pitt, who is filming World War Z.  They’ll shortly be moving on to Glasgow, Scotland for more filming, and an insider explained that Angelina wanted to make sure she had stuff to keep the kids entertained when they leave.

They picked up “sticker kits, tattoo transfers, craft making accessories, Play-Doh, dress-up accessories, “Ben 10″ action figures, cowboy guns and a soap-making kit.”

This is the second time Angelina’s been spotted at The Toy Station, and the store staff are happy to have her as a repeat customer.  Owner Karen Khatchik said:

“They are a lovely family and we have really enjoyed their visits.  The children are all so well behaved. They’ll point things out to Angelina and she’s always interested in what they have to say.”

“She doesn’t spoil the children. They are always allowed to buy a few things, but mostly small items. She doesn’t do things over the top.”

Angelina Jolie treated her girls Shiloh and Zahara to a shopping trip at the Toy Station in Richmond, London.

Angelina was all smiles as she left the store with her daughters.  Shiloh scored a red action figure, but Zahara was empty handed.  She looks pretty unhappy about that!

Angelina Jolie‘s taste for the exotic seems to be rubbing off on her kids!    She recently revealed that her sons Pax and Maddox have developed a taste for a treat you don’t normally find in the U.S.

“My boys love to eat crickets. It’s their favorite thing.  When I first gave it to them…they ate them like Doritos, and they wouldn’t stop.  They brought to-go boxes home and I had to actually ban the cricket eating at a certain point because I was afraid they were going to get sick from too many.”

What a difference a few years makes.  The kids went from snacking on Cheetos to gobbling crickets.   Which, when you put it in context, is not as weird as it sounds:  about half the people in the world consume insects as part of their regular diet.

So what does a cricket taste like?  Angelina says, “They’re good.  They’re like a potato chip.”

I’ll take her word for it.

It’s so cute to see Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and all the children out and about. They went out grocery shopping in New Orleans. They are in town because Brad is filming his latest movie, Cogan’s Trade. Brad’s hair looks so long in this picture.

The kids look they are enjoying the day out. Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. That is one big family!

Johnny Depp is praising Angelina Jolie and her parenting skills saying that he would have ended up in prison from  having to deal with what she has already.

“[Angelina Jolie] is such a versatile, wonderful person who can portray anything. She is a down to earth, clever, funny, woman and shockingly great mother. She is very calm even if she’s surrounded by paparazzi. I don’t know what I would do. I could’ve been in prison by now!”

At least Johnny is honest. We all know how he feels about the paparazzi.
