Melissa Etheridge & Tammy Lynn Michaels Custody Fight Gets Epic

What’s worse than one mama bear?  TWO mama bears.

As if their nasty breakup in 2010 wasn’t enough drama, singer Melissa Etheridge and her ex-partner Tammy Lynn Michaels are battling it out in family court.  The issues?  Well, it boils down to custody and money.

Etheridge and Michaels share two children, fraternal twins, Johnnie Rose and Miller Steven (5).   Michaels recently filed for an increase in child support, alleging that the $23,000 per month she already receives just isn’t enough.  Poor girl says she was used to living on more like $128,000 per month when she was married to Etheridge, and she expects to be kept in the style to which she is accustomed.  An actress with few credits, she says she’s got “limited income and virtually no savings,” whereas she claims Melissa makes $178,000 per month.

Michaels is also asking to have Etheridge’s custodial time reduced, saying that the singer is trying to turn the twins against their other mother.   Meanwhile, she posted a poem on her blog a couple of days ago admitting that she accidentally burned their son with a cigarette.

For her part, Etheridge is asking for more custodial time.  She’s also asked that the judge order both parents not to smoke around their children to eliminate the possibility of another accident.  A hearing is set for May 22.

Michaels has blogged that Etheridge made her “completely dependent” and vowed that it would “never ever happen again.”   But by asking her ex to pretty much completely support her now, isn’t she still making herself dependent?  Or is this her way of making Etheridge literally pay for their failed relationship?

Etheridge has two other children, Bailey (15) and Beckett (13) from her relationship with Julie Cypher.  That relationship ended in 2000.
