Kate Gosselin Is “Freaking Out” Over The End of ‘Kate Plus 8′

Kate Gosselin

Kate Gosselin and her eight children appear on the cover of this week’s issue of People.  The final episode of her reality show, Kate Plus 8, is airing next week, and Kate spoke to the magazine about how the family is weathering the transition. She said she was “unprepared” for the show’s cancellation:

“I’m freaking out. Big time.  I’ve never quit a job in my life without having something else lined up. I don’t know what’s next.”

However, she’s pledged to keep her children in the lifestyle to which they are accustomed.

“I told them I will work my fingers to the bone to make sure that they can stay here and go to their school.  There are no guarantees in life for anyone, but they know that I’m giving it my best shot.”

Evidently Kate’s considered going back to what she did before her 15 minutes of fame:  she was an obstetrics nurse.    But she also recognizes that she can’t earn enough to “continue to provide well” for her children on a nurse’s salary.

For her children… or for herself?  No doubt about it, it’s expensive to raise one kid, much less eight of them, but no kids NEED to live on a 20+ acre compound in a tony suburb and attend private school.   And no mom NEEDS multiple staff to help them run their household.  She might actually have to make a budget and stick to it like the rest of us schlubs.   And if her ex-husband Jon Gosselin can get a normal job, she can too.  Welcome to the real world, Katie dear… welcome to the real world.
