Gena Lee Nolin Opens Up About Her Postpartum Depression

Gena Lee Nolan and Daughter

Gena Lee Nolin gave birth to her daughter, Stella, back in December. About two weeks later she wasn’t feeling like she should have been.  She would cry and sob and question her abilities as a mother.  In a recent interview with Life & Style Gena opens up about the intense roller coaster ride she felt with her postpartum depression.

“It was really hard with the first one because I didn’t see it coming. I couldn’t figure out why I was so sad when I had this beautiful, healthy baby and a great job. Baywatch was the No. 1 show in the world at that time. I had nothing to be upset about. I thought I was nuts.”

Gena has two other children Spencer, 12, and Hudson, 3, and she had said she felt something like this after they were born too. She went to see a counselor and ended up going on a low dose of antidepressants and stayed on them for seven months.

“Allow yourself to have the feelings you’re having. Get help. Reach out. Don’t be hard on yourself.”

It’ s important to note that you are not a horrible mom if you feel this way. I know I felt the same way with both of my kids and I didn’t want to get help because I was scared. But when I said something it was so much easier to handle. Don’t be afraid to get help.
