Christina Aguilera Opens Up About Her Abusive Childhood
This has to be one of the hardest things I have ever had to write. I think it’s important to get the word out that abuse can happen to anyone and anyone can rise above it. Christina Aguilera recently revealed details about the childhood abuse she suffered. Christina’s father was a US army sergeant was the one that abused her.
“I witnessed a lot of unpleasant things – a lot of pushing and shoving and fighting and quarreling. Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from.”
Shelly, Christina’s mom, also described an incident where she saw Christina when she was four and she saw Christina with a bloody lip. After her mom asked her what had happened Christina answered, “Daddy wanted to take a nap and I made too much noise.” Eventually Shelly got the courage to leave him and now Christina and her dad don’t even talk.
I have been where Shelly was and it’s not easy to go but it has to be done. If someone in your life needs help try to help them in any way that you can, even if it’s to just listen.
