Molly Shannon Covers Page Six And Talks About Being A Mom

Molly Shannon has been out of the limelight for a while now. She finished working at SNL for years now, but is coming back this fall in the NBC show Kath & Kim. Molly talked to Page Six about how motherhood has changed her.

On her family including husband Fritz Chesnut and their children, Stella, 5, and Nolan, 3 1/2: “All the years I was on SNL, I didn’t think about kids. I was focused on work. But toward the end, I was looking for a serious boyfriend who could turn into a husband that I could have children with. I wanted to have kids. I was very clear about what I wanted.”

On being grateful about being a mom [her own mom died in a car accident when Molly was 4-years-old]: “I feel grateful for stuff that other people might just be like, ‘Oh, whatever.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m alive, and I’m a mom!’ That I’m a mother now is very healing.”

On her labor experience: “I called my doctor and said, ‘I think labor is starting,’ and she said I should go about my day. So I went to Starbucks. I went to a street fair. I got a super-straight blow-dry so I could look nice while pushing. Finally my husband was like, ‘Will you come home?’”

I would love to meet Molly, she looks like she would be a blast to be around.
