Amy Poehler Cries Over Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Amy Poehler is finding that sometimes pregnancy can have such crazy side effects…like crying after anything you may watch on TV.
“Oh, my God, I’m crying at everything lately. I’m watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and I was crying so hard. There’s no shame in that. I’m crying at everything. The wind will blow a branch and I’m like, aw, nature.”
I remember those days…and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a great show for crying. Amy recently did an interview for the USA Today and here are some highlights from the rest of the interview…
On what she’s eating: You have no idea. I ate two waffles, a banana and cereal with blueberries. And that was between my two breakfasts.
On being pregnant while on SNL: It’s my second week back. With the (first) show on Saturday, I was trying to figure out what would be my rhythm. And adrenaline still really does work. I was waddling from scene to scene (makes huffing noises).
On the pregnancy being written in the show: Being pregnant and doing comedy is like wearing a giant sombrero in every scene. Everyone is just trying to pretend it’s not there. It can be limiting. It gets boring. (So her belly will be hidden as much as possible.)
On balancing it all at once: The (phrase) “balance it all” is really funny because literally, my balance — it’s about not falling down. I am short of stature, and I have a giant, giant, 40-pound cement beach ball in my front area. The way I balance all of it is, I put my hand on someone’s shoulder and ask them to escort me to the next scene.
On the dreams for the future of the baby: I don’t care if it’s a girl or a boy, I want it to marry Alice Richmond, Tina (Fey)’s daughter. We’d make a lovely mother and mother-in-law of the bride.
