Amanda Peet Admits She Suffered From Postpartum Depression

Amanda Peet is a wonderful mom to daughter, Frances Penn, 17-months old, but she is only human and suffered from Postpartum Depression. In an interview with Gotham magazine Amanda stated that she was hit with “fairly serious postpartum depression” right after her daughter was born.

“And now I want to be honest about it because I think there’s still so much shame when you have mixed feelings about being a mom instead of feeling this sort of ‘bliss.’ I think a lot of people still really struggle with that, but it’s hard to find other people who are willing to talk about it….”

I am so glad that this is something that is starting to be talked about with celebrities. I suffered from Postpartum Depression with both of my children. I was ashamed to talk about it and didn’t want to get help the first time. And besides, they know a lot more about it now then they did 12 years ago when I first had it. It’s not something to be ashamed of. Don’t be afraid to get help.
