The Duggar Family Expecting Their 18th Child

The Duggar family (who have been featured on TLC shows many times) are just a normal family that live in a 7, 000 square foot home, have all their children (10 boys and 7 girls, and two sets of twins) names starting with the letter J and are home schooled in Arkansas. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that 41-year old, Michelle, is expecting her 18th child, due on New Year’s Day.

The couple’s oldest child is Josh, is 20 and the youngest, Jennifer, is 9 months old.

Congratulations go out the the couple!

  1. Those kids are going to have such issues!!!

  2. Their show is actually on Discovery Health Channel, and TLC. They’re everywhere!!!

I am torn when it comes to this family. I believe that their sexist household is frightening. Women scrubbing floors, while the menfolk handle “real work” — Oy. How’s that for a recipe for disaster? I also think it’s a little weird that the older kids virtually raise their younger siblings.

I also really wonder how much one human body can take. Reallly, does her OB think the average woman can birth 18 children?

However, I respect that there is something frighteningly peaceful about them. They know they are mocked by today’s society, somewhat, and they don’t care. They truly believe in the life they’ve chosen, and they live it well.
    So, I suppose it’s a to-each-their-own, type thought.
I have to confess, I can’t wait to see their show on DiscoveryHealth, because it looks like a series, long-term, not just one show.

I can’t find previews online, but I did see these:
Wonder how Michelle Duggar feels about Quads w.Two Moms! LOL}!!!

  3. I disagree with the above comments. I know of a few families raised with the same principles and values and discipline. One of the people I know is one of 22. Most are now married with children of their own and have grown up with great morals and values that the bible teaches. Including ( which is so obvious with the duggar parents ) That they love and respect eachother. He loves her unconditionally as the bible teaches a husband to do. That he would be willing to die for her. And when a husband loves his wife and respects her she then in return becomes submissive. SO many take that wrong. But, as a wife myself and my husband and I live also as the bible teaches. I want to do things for him b/c he loves me and shows it. ALso, Children need more than anything the love a father and mother. The chores the helping of another sibling is being a good person. Having a responsibiliy for someone is not damaging. She does not expect them to discipline. Its just the everyday things. It is also getting them ready for life. They found a way that works for them. And those kids do not look starved for attention or love. I say God Bless them. And they should be a inspiration as parents. To spend more time with our kids and more time with our spouses. Our children need to see the love between mom and dad. They feel safe knowing their lives aren’t falling apart. We are their security. What a lovely family!!

  4. I myself am the mother of ten children. The last one being born when I was 42 years old. I am in support of large families and the type of people they produce. Not the ones that are all so full of themselves that they have nothing else to give to others. We could use more families like that in our selfish, materialistic and immoral world.
